Leadership and Service in the Legal Profession
Christa & Jackson attorneys have been selected by prominent professional organizations to provide leadership and service to the profession and the community:
- International Bar Association. Laura K. Christa advanced to Chair of the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Law section of the IBA, the largest international organization of lawyers. The chair is responsible for overall management of the section including management of membership, education seminars at the IBA's annual, weeklong conference, newsletter publication, and regional conferences. Larry Jackson was selected to be the assistant vice-chair of the Tax section for the tax litigation practice group and programs.
- California State Bar Association. Laura K. Christa chaired the Committee on Administration of Justice, charged with the duty to report to the Bar and California Legislature on all pending bills affecting the justice system.
- She was also appointed to the California Task Force on Complex Litigation, which published California's Complex Litigation manual.
- The California Women's Law Center. Laura K. Christa was elected President of the Board of Directors of this statewide organization dedicated to ensuring equality for women and girls. A member of the Executive Committee for four years and a board member for six, she has currently agreed to develop an international advisory committee on equal rights for women and girls.
- Los Angeles County Bar Association. Laura K. Christa is on the Executive Committee of the International Law section. Larry Jackson was elected to the Executive Committee of the Litigation section and chaired the Legislative Review Committee of the Litigation practice section and co-coordinated continuing legal education programs of the Litigation Practice section.
- Association of Business Trial Lawyers. Larry Jackson served as a part of the editorial committee for the ABTL Report.
- Los Angeles Copyright Society. Laura K. Christa was invited to join Society membership, based on experience in copyright litigation.
- Women Lawyers' Association of Los Angeles. Laura K. Christa served the Association on its Board of Governors and as an officer.
