Entertainment, Sports and Arts
Christa & Jackson attorneys have represented entertainment companies and performing artists, as well as sports champions, writers, painters and sculptors:
- Representing a former U. S. Secretary of the Navy to protect the title of his best-selling war novel from misappropriation, we were able to force cable companies worldwide to rename the film. We obtained agreement to have disclaimers in various languages affixed to videotapes and obtained a substantial monetary recovery.
- On behalf of the largest Spanish motion picture distributor and producer, we successfully resolved an action seeking to force it to deliver distribution rights in North America to a U. S. production company.
- For a former Olympic gold medal winner, we recovered on a misappropriation of likeness claim immediately before the launch of an international ad campaign during a worldwide sporting event.
- We defended a large South Korean film distributor from arbitration claims brought under American Film Market Association (AFMA) rules.
- For the artist of a landmark sculpture adorning the American Airlines Los Angeles terminal, we succeeded in ending an attempt to cover over controversial aspects of the sculpture.
- We protected a prominent muralist from misappropriation of murals.
- For a prominent Los Angeles film production company, we obtained both insurance coverage and recovery of attorney fees spent by company in pursuing the coverage.
